G Suite provides UNCG with a wide range of project-, time-, and work-management applications that we use on campus all the time. These same applications support remote work as well.
iSpartan Gmail, UNCG’s Gmail service may be accessed from desktop browsers or the Gmail App on mobile devices.
Google Calendar allows users to schedule meetings, share availability, and block times when they’re unavailable.
Google Groups associates a group of people for easy communications and collaboration, in what is called a collaborative inbox. A Group can be created to reflect the membership of an organization unit like the “Registrar’s Office” groups, or to reflect responsibility such as a “HR Liaisons” group.
Google Keep is a note-taking (and sharing) application, kind of like virtual Post-It notes.
Google Hangouts and Google Chat are instant-messaging chat clients that are integrated with Gmail. Although similar, Google Chat builds on Google Hangouts’ functionality and is accessed separately. Both Hangouts and Chat may be installed on computers, have mobile apps, and send direct messages to any UNCG member. Another great feature of Google Chat is its integration with Google Meet. A Google Meet can be launched directly from a Google Chat interaction.
UNCG provides several tools for online document sharing and collaboration, including Google Drive, Microsoft Office 365, and Box.
Google Drive hosts Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms which are word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and form-building applications.
Microsoft Office 365 provides web-based versions of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and other Microsoft software. Many of these applications have desktop versions that can be downloaded and installed on personal computers.
Box provides file storage for high-risk data.
